Building Your Engine for Growth

Raising large gifts takes an ongoing investment of time and resources. JMA can guide your investment and help you build successful major gifts, principal gifts, and planned giving programs that will drive long-term revenue for your organization.

The JMA Advantage

We know that a successful major gifts program requires investing in all four steps of the donor lifecycle: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

We have experience in building and expanding major and planned giving programs for organizations of all sizes—including large, national organizations and local, community-based organizations.

Building major gifts and principal gifts programs

JMA can support you as you initially build a major gifts program, or as you expand an existing program and add principal-level giving.

That’s because we have deep experience in tailoring programs to specific missions and donor bases. This includes helping build the internal systems and staffing necessary to grow an ongoing program with sustainable impact.

Building planned giving programs

JMA can develop a planned giving program that will drive a new channel of ongoing revenue from existing donors. In addition, we’ll help you educate your board and leadership about the importance of making long-term investments in planned giving—and how to measure your results.

Planned Parenthood Bequest Challenge

We can guide you in implementing the innovative technique of a bequest challenge like Planned Parenthood’s Second Century Bequest Challenge. By using a pool of current funds from a small group of donors as a challenge fund, you can incentivize other donors to include your organization in their estate plans. This can encourage new donors to put your organization in their estate plans, discover donors who already have your organization in their plans, and learn about the scale of existing bequests.

In just 18 months, 2,380 individuals and couples designated gifts for Planned Parenthood in their estate plans, totalling over $360 million in documented bequests.
